Wash, dry and fold or wash, dry and iron: which should you choose?

These two services do almost the same thing, right up to the last step. That last step is where the time, the price and the finish differ. Here is how to choose without overthinking it.

Wash, dry and fold

Your clothes are sorted, washed, tumble dried and folded neatly. It is the everyday option and the one most of our weekly members use. At R68.00 per kg it is also the more affordable of the two. Perfect for t shirts, underwear, gym wear, towels, bedding, children’s clothes and anything you would not iron yourself anyway.

Wash, dry and iron

Same wash and dry, then each item is pressed and folded or hung. At R73.00 per kg the extra R5 per kilogram buys you the finish that matters for work shirts, chinos, school uniforms, dresses and anything with a collar. If you spend Sunday evenings at the ironing board, this is the service that gives that evening back.

A quick way to decide

• Would you iron it yourself before wearing it? Choose wash, dry and iron.
• Does it go straight from the drawer to your body? Wash, dry and fold is enough.
• Mixed bag? Send two bags, or add a note and we will separate the shirts for ironing.

What about shirts on their own?

Shirts are priced per item rather than by weight, and the price drops the more you send. Five or fewer shirts are R46.00 each for wash, dry and iron, six to ten are R41.00 each. If your week is mostly shirts, sending them separately can work out cheaper than putting them in the per kg bag.

Fabrics to keep out of both

Suits, wool coats, silk and anything labelled dry clean only should go in as dry cleaning, which is also priced per item. When in doubt, add a note on the booking form and we will check the label before anything goes in the machine.
