Laundry guides Getting started

How to prepare your laundry bag for collection (a two minute checklist)

Empty the pockets, separate the specials, note the stains. Five small habits that make every collection smoother and every wash better.

You do not need to sort, pre wash or fold anything before we collect. A few small habits do make a difference to how your clothes come back, though, and they take about two minutes.

1. Empty the pockets

Tissues, receipts, pens and earphones are the most common finds. A single tissue can leave lint across a whole load and a pen can ruin one. Turn out pockets before the bag closes and you are most of the way there.

2. Point out stains

Add a line in the notes on the booking form, or clip a note to the item. Telling us “red wine on the white shirt” lets us treat it before the wash rather than discover it after. Fresh stains are far easier to remove than set ones, so do not wait for the next collection if something important is at stake.

3. Keep the specials separate

Anything that needs different handling, such as dry cleaning, delicates, wool or beaded pieces, goes in its own bag or a clearly marked packet inside the main bag. Our booking form lets you list them so the driver and the store expect them.

4. Close it properly

Any bag works, but a drawstring laundry bag or a large tote makes the handover easier. Members on a plan get a labelled Express Clean bag with their first collection, which is also how we keep every household’s laundry together at the store.

5. Decide the handover

Choose a two hour window you can keep to, or tell us where to find the bag if you will be out: with security at the gate, on the porch, with a neighbour. Put the instruction in the notes and it stays on your profile for next time.

What you can leave to us

  • Sorting lights and darks
  • Checking care labels
  • Matching socks (we try, we really do)
  • Folding, hanging and packing

That is the whole list. Book a slot, drop the bag by the door and get on with your day.
